Filaflex ® was developed to operate in applications to withstand continuous temperatures as high as 1400 °F (760 °C) without flexing or abrasion. Filaflex is being used in applications to replace asbestos, or where standard fiberglass won €™t stand up. Filaflex designs contain single conductors insulated with a high tensile strength low alkali magnesia alumina silicate vitreous fiber braid. Prior to impregnation the insulation is inorganic, incombustible and will neither expand nor contract with moisture changes. Once the material has been braided onto the wire, it is impregnated with a special binder to improve moisture and abrasion resistance.
